About

Annabelle Dietitian was founded to provide evidence-based advice to women through some of their most important moments in life. I specialise in pregnancy, pre-conception, diabetes (gestational and type II), women’s health, and general paediatrics. My practice is rooted in a wholefoods approach and is “anti-diet” and weight-inclusive.

G’day

I love food. You see, food was my first word.

After graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2017 with my Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, I went on to spend 6 years working in an acute care hospital in Singapore. There I covered areas ranging from diabetes, cardiology, weight management, malnutrition, paediatrics and food service.

It was through my own pregnancy journey that I learnt how rarely discussed antenatal nutrition is. As I learnt about the benefits of good nutrition during the preconception stage, it was shocking to me that more people didn’t consider seeing a dietitian during this critical window!

Then first trimester hit with its wonderful all day nausea and vomiting. I was glad that I did all the work to optimise my nutrition stores prior but was also glad that I had the knowledge to ensure all my bases were covered for growing new life!

As if that wasn’t enough, I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes in my third trimester. A diagnosis that I worked hard to prevent since as it was, I had numerous risk factors from ethnicity to genetics. Despite my professional background, the diagnosis was still a shock and adjustment. Though a bigger shock was how outdated a lot of the advice was.

So I guess you could say I approach nutrition very holistically, having both the training and the lived experience. I can’t wait to be part of your journey!

My philosophy

My practice is strongly grounded in my food philosophy. I recognise that food is so much more than sustenance, especially here in Singapore. It is cultural, social and emotional.

With the pervasive nature of diet-culture, I also know that a healthy relationship with food is hard to build and perhaps even harder to maintain amongst all the diet noise.

As such, my practice is weight-inclusive and intuitive eating informed. We will discuss your history with food and dieting so we can approach your diet with the sensitivity it requires. And we never discuss weight unless you want to! Besides, weight alone is not an indicator of health.
